The Lobster Fishers of Prince Edward Island Marketing Board is the presenting sponsor of the 63rd Summerside Lobster Carnival. The board, made up of twelve elected lobster fishers from across PEI, promotes and markets Island lobster to the world. As the primary fishery in Prince Edward Island, the sustainable wild lobster fishery is valued at over four hundred million dollars.  The fishery has 1280 independent fishers, and employs 8500 people.

 

A number of the board members will be on the front lines of the carnival, cracking open PEI lobsters, and sharing the stories of their industry and why it plays such an important role in Island culture and economy.

The lobster fishery is truly at the heart of rural PEI, where life ebbs and flows with the lobster season.
