Carboard boats, representing businesses, organizations, and individuals, will compete in a series of elimination heats to be declared the overall winner of the Summerside Lobster Carnival Cardboard Boat Races and claim the grand prize of $1,000.00!
The races are taking place in 2024 at the Ice Pond Nature Park on the corner of South Drive and Greenwood Drive (716 South Drive) across from carnival grounds. First place will be awarded to the boat team with the fastest time or with the boat still floating. It is suspense at its best with spectators lining the banks to cheer on their favourite entry.

Rules
Race participants must build their own boat or have it built for them.
Approved materials:
Cardboard, duct tape, string or rope, wax, and white glue.
Materials that are strictly prohibited:
Styrofoam, wood, metal, plastic, rubber, staples.
Handle portion of paddles may be made from wood.
Maximum length of boat is 20 feet.
A boat's crew may consist of :

1 - 4 boat crew members

1 - 6 land crew members (to help get boat in water)

Life jackets must be worn (a small number on hand)
No entry fee for participating.
Explanation of how the race heats works will be given at the time of the race.
